Flashes of Hope - Victory Junction Camp
Last week I had the privilege of taking portraits of some super cool kids at the Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, NC. I was there volunteering with an organization called Flashes of Hope, a non-profit "dedicated to creating powerful, uplifting portraits of children fighting cancer and other life threatening illnesses." Flashes of Hope partners with Victory Junction Camp which is part of Paul Newman's Association of Hole in the Wall Camps. These camps provide a fun place for children with chronic illness or medical conditions to be themselves and have a great time. The cool thing is we have one right here near us! I got to shoot with other photographers from around the area that also volunteered and everyone was really cool and fun to work with. I even got to jump on a horse. I got some shots of the horse trainer Jeremy in action and Frank Myers of Sweet Life Photo got the cool shots of me making the leap. Thanks Frank!
The trip was also fun because I got to meet Abigail Seymour, another local wedding photographer here in Greensboro. Back when I was shooting weddings and portraits on the side + working a full-time day job as a designer, I read an article on Abigail taking a leap of faith to go full-time with her photography. It was a first step in inspiring me to do the same. It was cool to see she was down to earth and really cool. Thanks for riding down with me Abigail!
I couldn't get this girl to smile showing her teeth. So I made her laugh!

I warmed up over Jeremy, then made the big leap.
